Smita Rao is a Bucks County landscape artist trained in traditional fine art. Rao’s careful compositions balance a minimalistic approach to the ephemeral qualities of turning seasons with focused meditation on nature’s power to shape our daily experiences.
After more than fifteen years of showing work in galleries in the Greater Philadelphia region, Rao’s work is represented in private collections as well as public venues.
Recently, Rao has returned to review and curate the body of work developed over twenty-five years of inspiration from the natural beauty of Bucks County. The works exhibited here represent a body of work from up to 2013, and include a range of media from traditional pastel on paper, oil pastel on board, water-based inks, and prints, including woodcuts, etchings, monotypes, collographs, and linoleum cuts. Much of this work has not been shown in galleries before, representing a comprehensive review of her artistic achievements.
